making a cameo

tired.jpg

I am back from vacay and I must say I am pooped! Over 24 hours of travel makes me achy, jet-laggy, drowsy and sinus-y. Kinda like this poor sap above ^  ^

But going to Ross and Vivian’s 2nd wedding… (first wedding) and getting to visit such a beautiful country was well worth it!

Uploading pictures soon here…

Here is a preview:

Gotta run, but will be back soon.

And the count continues…

The other day, my gay buds and I ran to the theater to catch the movie 27 Dresses.

27dresses.jpg

Yes, I know that it’s cheesy and totally a “chick flick”.

Hey, I am girl after all. And yes, I DO have brain cells. And yes, I do enjoy the thought-provoking cinema. And yes, I appreciate intelligent dialogue.

BUT every once in awhile, the girly-girl in me wins and there I am: grabbing my popcorn, pickle and soda pop at the concession stand with “Chick-flick” (starring Julia-Reese-Katherine-Rachel) ticket stub in hand.

As I sat there watching, eyes glued to the screen since I somehow felt that that was ME up there. I thought of my own run up to the altar…but only, as a supporting role. (Not that I am in any rush to get married.)

You know what grandma used to say “Mejor sola que mal acompañada.”

Rough translation: “Rather be single than with bad company.”

Grandma is very wise.

So with that said…I move on to other things: my own dress count!

At last count and using all my fingers to keep tabs…I think the running tab is a whopping: 11. Granted, it’s not quite 27, but it’s still a hefty amount.

11dresses.jpg

11 dresses that have been discarded, left at my parents’ house, some I have outgrown (junior bridesmaid), and some were just too hedious to admit that I have worn.

And NONE were ever used again! And it seems like I am not the only one: Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

So as the movie moved along…something caught my eye. I rubbed them and I did a double-take. Was that ME up on the big screen…my big movie debut??!! Then reality sunk in and my fuzzy vision cleared up (from the 2 or 3 tears I shed while watching)….

Then only then, did it all make sense–it was just the same dress. :(

That wasn’t me up there after all…that was Katherine Heigl.

Must run along now! I have another bride to make happy. (No seriously….travelling to Manila next week for a wedding!)

I wonder what dress awaits me….hmm…..

Beckoning the Mac gods…

Picture it: you’re in your pj’s and talking away on the mobile with your friends:

Gab, gab, gab, giggle, gab, gab, giggle…[insert twirl hair]

Then, the never-ending battle of PC vs. Mac convo arises with LeBunny (it always does):

So…for many months now…there have been talks, debates, questions and tears.

No fighting words. We are friends…friends don’t fight over PC vs. Mac (maybe fight over the last fry when at McDonald’s), but never over gadget things. No matter how shiny and fast they may be.

So, there is a faint notion that I, too, can be an owner of a nice, new, shiny….and OH yes, pricey MacBook!

Stop the presses, call the media, notify the paparazzi, close down the local Apple store….heck, call the National Guard!

Chibbi’s thinking of getting a Mac?”  You may ask yourself.

The rumors spread like wildfire during the dry season. Jaiku’s bird can’t keep up! MacBook sales skyrocket. Stock market soars….

But, there are several things left to ponder:

Will the Chibbi run out and get her Mac or was it all a ploy to attract attention?

Are there funds for such expenditure?

Will Sugar Daddies run to her aid?

Are there enough coins in the sofa cushions?

Or will the collection plate be passed around? :)

Collection plate

Over and out…

Things I’d rather be doing than blogging…

Pondering….
thinking and pondering
10: Fly a kite. It has been awhile since I have done this. What better way to nurture my inner-child than flying a $2.00 contraption at the local park? I do need a partner to help me get her off the ground. Taking volunteers.
9: Writing actual correspondence to friends and family. (Unofficial New Years resolution.) I received some personalized stationary for Christmas and I need to break it open. You can e-mail me addresses and such if you would like to receive something. Whaaat!? Grab a pen and paper…revealing, shocking, archaic, perhaps—but I can be old school!
8: Alphabetize my DVD collection. Before you laugh…it has been something that has been bugging me. Not that I am a neat freak, but it’s just practical. When you alphabetize…they are simply easier to find. Which leads me to my CD collection…oy…yes, I still buy them things at the store.
7: Take a walk. Enjoy some walking trails around town or even a light jog. Not making any promises about an actual workout. Don’t get all excited…I haven’t bought tennis shoes (kicks for you in the other side of the pond) in ages.
6: Gift wrap instead of bagging a present. I just find there is something more personal about it and a nice plus: they get to rip something open instead of just popping their head into the bag. Remember opening a present when you were littles and the exhiliration of ripping that thing apart? Yeah…that’s the feeling…
5: Crack open a book. And no picture books…lol Been wanting to start reading the Harry Potter series. I think I am so behind on the trend and there are 8 year-olds that could probably read them faster than me. (I shouldn’t reveal so much.)
4: Brush my hair 100 times. Per Jan on the Brady Bunch, it helps stimulate healthy hair. And you know that everything on tv is the truth! An added bonus: looking at myself in the mirror. Eek!
3: Do the running man, Tootsie roll, the Macarena or other silly dances. This helps with circulation and gives my soul a much needed boost. Been heavy-hearted as of late. Or perhaps learn a new dance. Who knows?
2: Make up songs like when I was a little girl (and would perform it for my parents). Nothing worth recording or anything. Pigtails: optional. Singing about being a ballerina or riding ponies is allowed. Clears throat…

And the number 1 thing I’d rather be doing than blogging. Drum roll, please…
1: Take a nap. Doing all of the above has completely wiped me out. Yawn!
(Bare with me–first blog on WordPress so I am still learning how to use it. Any comments, tips or critiques will be appreciated.)
And if you thought mine was alright—this one is way cooler: LeBunny’s list!
